I screwed up when I got mine. I found the reset procedure, but I missed the warning. So, read EVERYTHING before you begin.
Reset Procedures:
- power up holding # until line lights turn orange.
- For Firmware Reset: Enter 123456789*0#
- The display turns blue if not fully reset, will connect to tftp looking for term65.default.loads
https://software.cisco.com, create account or login (important to do this here), Access Downloads, search for Unified IP Phone 7965G - Download v8.3(2) zip file and extract to tftp root. Newer versions may not authenticate, like on mine.
- Connect iPhone and tftp server to isolated network and power up.
- Watch tftpd64/32 log for dhcp assignment, then tftpd progress bars.
- If it downloads term65.default.loads 2 times, it failed to authenticate. if successful, will download the additional 5 files.
- The display turns blue if not fully reset, will connect to tftp looking for term65.default.loads
- For Full Reset: Enter 33491672850*0#
- The line buttons will move faster, then run red, then phone will reboot when bios is wiped.
- Phone will boot, stay blank and download all files in order. if it downloads term65.default.loads twice, it is failing authentication.. My phone will only accept the oldest.
- Full load to standard screen took less than a minute.
With any luck, the phone will reboot to the familiar water background.
If you’re having trouble with tftpd64, I recommend the following.

Note option 66 instead of 150.
Good luck.
